   ReStore Volunteering

Store Helpers needed:
Do you enjoy helping people? Do you have a few hours to give? Why not volunteer a few hours a week helping out at the ReStore? We need help pricing, stocking shelves and keeping the place clean and organized.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a retail setting or a customer service position preferred but not required.
  • Ability to speak and interact with the general public.
  • Flexibility with regards to work assignments
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Dependability to work shifts as assigned.
  • Spanish speaking a plus, but not required.

Specific Duties

  • Greet customers and determine their wants and needs.
  • Answer questions regarding the store and its merchandise.
  • Direct customers to the cashier.
  • Bag or package purchases.
  • Assist customers to their vehicles with purchases as needed.
  • Assist in pricing merchandise as directed.
  • Clean shelves, counters, and tables and office area.
  • Inventory stock as directed.
  • Prepare merchandise for purchase.
  • Some telephone answering, depending on staffing needs.
  • Demonstrate use or operation of merchandise.

Time Requirements:
Store hours are Monday through Saturday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Shift work is available during those hours. Schedules will be worked out with Management.

Training:
Training will be provided by paid staff.

Appliance Maintenance Technician - For the Habi-Store

Supervisor:
Ruby Ruiz, Store Manger

Summary of Duties:
This position will assist the store with inventory management. Patrons will donate appliances (i.e. refrigerators, stoves, freezers, air-conditioners, televisions, and small kitchen appliances) to the Habi-Store for re-sale. The technician will investigate and determine if the appliance is in good working order and can be sold on the sales floor. If the appliance is not working the technician needs to make a determination if the appliance can be repaired at no cost. If it can be fixed the technician will fix it at the Habi-Store and make it ready for sale. If it can not be fixed the technician will inform the store manager that the appliance needs to be disposed of.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in appliance repair helpful but not required.
  • Must have previous experience in electrical repair.
  • Flexibility with regards to work assignments
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Dependability to work shifts as assigned.
  • Self-starter and ability to work without supervision is a must.

Specific Duties:

  • Develop an inventory acceptance/maintenance schedule to receive and repair.
  • Assist the drivers with their deliveries
  • Make weekly reports to the Store Manager about the status of merchandise.
  • Assist customers when necessary about the particulars of an appliance.
  • Assist in pricing merchandise as directed.
  • Making repairs to the appliances as needed.
  • Inventory stock as directed.
  • Prepare merchandise for purchase.

Time Requirements:
Store hours are Monday through Saturday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Shift work is available during those hours. Schedules will be worked out with Management.

Be a Delivery Driver:
Occasionally we have large items donated to the ReStore and need someone to pick them up. We'd love to have you help out!

Qualifications:

  • Must have a clean driving record.
  • Ability to speak and interact with the general public.
  • Flexibility with regards to work assignments
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Dependability to work shifts as assigned.
  • Spanish speaking a plus, but not required.

Specific Duties:

  • Assist a driver with picking up donations at individual houses.
  • Loading and securing the merchandise safely onto the truck.
  • Unload donated items at the warehouse.

Time Requirements:
Donation pick up hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Training:
Training will be provided by paid staff
